1.  Application and Application Fee $95  

Online application became available on September 11, 2017. Click on the above link to open the online application.  Create a user ID and password, “click next”, and follow the directions for completing the online application. The application fee is $95 payable online by credit card or cash. Cash payment must be made directly to the business office within five business days.

2. High School Placement Test (HSPT) – Saturday, January 20, 2018      

All applicants for ninth grade are required to take the HSPT (High School Placement Test). The results of the HSPT test provides the school with additional evaluative information on the applicants basic skills in  English, mathematics, vocabulary, reading, and quantitative skills. The HSPT exam is given at all the Catholic high schools in the Oakland Diocese, including Saint Mary’s, on Saturday, January 20, 2018.

Students will have the opportunity to select their preferred testing site when they complete the HSPT online registration. Applicants may select Saint Mary’s or another high school in the Oakland Diocese where they have submitted an application. 3.  Submission of Academic Information and Recommendations – Deadline: February 2, 2018

The academic information requested is the applicant’s 8th grade grades, 7th and 8th grade standardized test scores, and math and English teacher and Principal/Counselor recommendations.

Please ask your child’s school administrator and/or teachers to provide Saint Mary’s with this academic information by February 2, 2018.  Download the appropriate recommendation forms at the bottom of this page which correspond to the type of school the student currently attends, i.e., Catholic, public, or private.

To simplify the work of the eighth grade teachers who are asked to complete the recommendation forms, Saint Mary’s will also accept a copy of a completed recommendation form from another Catholic or private school.

4. Student Interview Night – Thursday, February 1, 2018

Saint Mary’s will host a Student Interview Night on Thursday, February 1, 2018 for all ninth grade applicants. A fifteen minute interview appointment will be scheduled between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and  9:00 p.m. Applicants will be notified by e-mail by mid-January of time and location of their interview.

5.  Electronic Signature and Payment

Student and parent(s) will be asked to date and electronically sign the application for admission. There is a  non-refundable application fee, which includes the cost of testing, of $95 which is payable at the time of application submission.

After completing the application, parents are asked to review the application information before final submission. When you are satisfied with the information on the application, please be sure to click ‘Submit’ icon. To determine whether your child’s application was successfully submitted, parents should receive a confirmation email from infosnap.

LOOKING AHEAD

Saint Mary’s will  send the family a confirmation email at the beginning of January to confirm the student’s testing arrangements.

Admission decisions will be sent by emailed and hard copy on Friday, March 16, 2018.   If your child receives an acceptance and your family decides to register your child at Saint Mary’s, please be prepared to pay the non-refundable registration fee of $750.00 when the registration portal on March 17, 2018. Saint Mary’s will have to close its registration portal once our enrollment is full. In the last five years, Saint Mary’s has closed its registration portal prior within the first four days of the portal opening. The school is under an enrollment cap set by the City of Albany that requires us to limit our total enrollment to 630 students.
