Seventh graders, are you thinking ahead to high school? If applying to a Catholic High School, you will be asked to take the nationally-given HSPT (High School Placement Test), produced by Scholastic Testing Service.
Saint Mary’s will be hosting an opportunity for seventh graders to participate in a Seventh Grade HSPT Practice Test on Saturday, May 5, 2012. This practice test is intended to help students become more familiar with the different sections of the HSPT, especially under timed conditions. HOWEVER, space is limited to 125 spaces.
HOWEVER, YOU MUST REGISTER IN ADVANCE. RESERVATIONS ARE TAKEN ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE BASIS.
A reminder email will be sent to all registered participants in the beginning of April. Results of the practice test will be mailed home to families in May as a tool for them to assess their child’s personal strengths and allow for enough time to concentrate on areas of growth before taking the genuine test.
The results will include academic suggestions from Saint Mary’s for improvement in reading, writing, and mathematics, if needed. Test results are strictly confidential and are not sent to the student’s school or kept at Saint Mary’s College High School. Detailed Performance Profile exam results will be mailed home in mid-May along with general academic suggestions sponsored by the Curriculum Committee at Saint Mary’s. Exam results will not be mailed to the student’s current school.
Parents are invited to attend the morning welcome and overview in the auditorium. Once students have been directed to classrooms, members of the Saint Mary’s administration and staff will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. to meet and greet parents and answer any questions about Saint Mary’s and its program.
This is a Seventh Grade “Day of Support” sponsored by Saint Mary’s. Whether you are a skilled test-taker, or simply want to alleviate some of the test-taking anxiety, many past participants of this workshop have told us that this experience made their high school testing experience easier and less stressful. All materials are provided by Saint Mary’s. Students may want to bring something to read while they are waiting or if they finish a section of the test early.
We hope that students strongly consider taking advantage of this opportunity.
