Dear Saint Mary’s Parents,
On Monday, January 30, 2012, student leaders will kickoff the annual Student Fundraiser to support financial assistance for members of our community. This fundraiser keeps the dream of education alive for so many of our peers, and it’s one of the things that makes Saint Mary’s unique. It has been over ten years that the students have created and led this fundraiser. We join with parents, alumni, and friends of Saint Mary to celebrate the value of giving and helping others. As student leaders, we ask that all students participate.
This year, there are two ways for students to participate. We’re asking that every student either sell $100 worth of raffle tickets or use the online tool to solicit donations from family and friends. The funds raised from this program will benefit the nearly 43% of students on assistance, but it will also send an important message that as a community we have the power to support the dream of a quality education for all regardless of income. We are indeed responsible for one another.
Here’s how you can help. Please talk to your child and reinforce the message that this fundraiser is important, not only for continued access to education, but for our community to express its belief that only through our actions will a more just world be created. We are responsible for the world we inhabit, and we have the power to shape it according to our will. Check-in with your child and encourage them to do their part. The information on the other side of this document explains specific details and key dates of the fundraiser.
Lastly, it’s important to account for every ticket. Should your child not be able to sell all their tickets, or if they raise the money online, please make sure the used or unused tickets are turned in to their homeroom teacher. Otherwise, the school will bill the family for tickets that are not accounted for.
Thank you for supporting our work and efforts
