Congratulations to GABBY GREEN!!! Gabby was one of three high school players selected for the United States’ U19 world championship team that will compete in the 2013 FIBA U19 World Championship in Lithuania from July 18-28. Gabby helped lead the Panther basketball team to capture both the TCAL and NCS titles in 2013. (USA Women’s Basketball U19 TEAM LIST)

Saint Mary’s Track and Field team members headed to STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS:
Congratulations to the Girl’s 4 X 400 relay team of Spencer Moore, Zoie Campbell, Chloe Jenkins and Carly Schulz for placing 1st in the NCS Meet of Champions. In addition, Carly Schulz advances to the state championships by WINNING the 300M Hurdles with the fastest time in Northern California. Austin Collier and Harold Terrell also advance to the state championships in the triple jump and high jump, respectively, after recording personal best’s. Spencer Moore advances in the 1600M state race.
Saint Mary’s Track and Field teams SWEEP TCAL CHAMPIONSHIPS!!! The Varsity Girl’s and Boy’s Track teams as well as the JV Girl’s and Boy’s Track teams took home the TCAL Championship title this past weekend. Outstanding individual performances were turned in by Spencer Moore, Zoie Campbell, Austin Collier, Chloe Jenkins, Caleb Coleman, Carly Schulz, Liam Godfrey, Tamarick Pierce and many more. Saint Mary’s Girl’s Soccer team defeats Albany in NCS Quarterfinals…PICTURES!!
Saint Mary’s Girl’s Soccer Goalie, Lucia Lecce, named Athlete of the Week by Contra Costa Times
◊ CONGRATULATIONS to the GIRL’S and BOY’S CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS for their performance at the State CIF Cross Country State Championships in Fresno, CA this past weekend. The Girl’s team finished 11th overall, while the Boy’s finished 16th. Spencer Moore finished 9th among individual runners, holding onto her place as a Top Ten runner in the state of California. Outstanding perfomances included: Chloe Jenkins, who finished 22nd overall, Natalia Riccardi, Josie Smale, Caitlin Kloess and Izzy Havens.
The boy’s team was led by co-captain Guy Forte, establishing a personal best time. In addition, Jovani Barajas, Josh Dull, Patrick Mariolle, Stephen Giuntini, Nabai Habtemariam and Arlo Rudy finished strong for the panthers. Congratulations to the team and coaches for another great year.
◊ What a year for the Saint Mary’s football team! Though the football team lost to Justin Siena (11/16/12) in the NCS quarterfinal playoffs, the team advanced further than any Saint Mary’s football team in over a decade. Pictures below courtesy of James Jackson, panther parent:

◊ The Girl’s Varsity Volleyball team played Marin Catholic 11/7/12 in the NCS playoffs. Despite battling the wildcats in a hard fought match, our girl’s fell to a very good team. ◊ The varsity Panther football team’s SENIOR day was 10/27/12. We had a chance to honor all SENIORS associated with our Football program, as well as their parents. We honored 10 Seniors: 6 football players, 3 athletic trainers and our team statistician. Here are some great shots of the day:

◊ Women’s Tennis – Our Women’s Tennis team finished their league play with a 13-1 record, tying Albany for the League Championship! The girl’s team SET a Saint Mary’s record for league victories. Finally, our own Mae Petti and Margaret English advanced into the NCS playoffs as a doubles team.
◊ Girl’s LACROSSE – The GIRL’S LACROSSE is well on its’ way to forming for the first time in many years. Those interested should contact Mr. Kelly, Athletic Director (gkelly@stmchs.org). We’ve got 15 girls signed up, therefore we need just 5 more to formally establish our team.
◊ Athletic Passes are HERE!!! One Adult pass is $60, Two Adult passes are $100. Passes can be purchased “on the spot” @ upcoming athletic contests while supplies last. We have a limited number of passes to distribute. NOTE: STMCHS passes are good for all home contest but not TCAL or NCS playoffs.
◊ Mandatory concussion testing and parent letter for all contact sports: Saint Mary’s provides baseline concussion testing for all athletes participating in contact sports. In addition, we partner with our parents by providing information and a list of symptoms to assist in monitoring our athletes. Parents and students must sign and submit a concussion letter to their coach. (Parent/Student concussion letter)
• Ticket prices: $6 Adults, Visiting Students $4, Seniors 65+ $2, Children 6 and under with parent $2, Saint Mary’s students – free! (ticket prices set by league bylaws)
◊ Cross Country season for men and women has begun. Our Cross Country team ran wild against St. Joe’s and John Swett this past Thursday. The JV Girls and Boys, as well as the Varsity Girls, dominated the contest. The Varsity Boy’s nailed down 5 of the top 10 finishes against a tough St. Joe team. Come see one of the BEST Cross Country programs in the state of California!
◊ Girl’s Volleyball (published on Sept. 22) – The Women’s Varsity and JV Volleyball teams host Salesian on Tuesday, September 25th @ 4:30/6:00 pm. The JV girls team also defeated Saint Joseph Notre Dame on Thursday, while the Varsity team fell in a spirited match. Women’s Volleyball visits El Cerrito and Fremont Christian, September 27th and 28th, respectively @ 4:30/6:00 pm. Come support the girls at Saint Mary’s this week!!!
