Financial Aid

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE INFORMATION
FOR SCHOOL YEAR 2009-2010

Saint Mary’s College High School strives to provide the highest quality educational program at the most reasonable cost. Sending a qualified young man or woman to Saint Mary’s can be a significant financial commitment for some families. At the same time, we are convinced that the gift of a Saint Mary’s education can be truly life changing.

The Saint Mary’s Financial Aid Program is designed to help make a Saint Mary’s education affordable to families who demonstrate financial need. Applications and awards are made annually and are determined by a review of each family’s total resources, coupled with the total amount of funds available to Saint Mary’s. The financial aid program strives to provide tuition assistance to as many families as possible. It is funded through the generosity of alumni, benefactors, parents, students and friends of Saint Mary’s. Families must reapply each year for financial assistance.

How to apply

All families (including Freshmen and Transfer Applicants) must apply by the deadline date indicated below to be considered for financial assistance for the 2009 - 2010 school year.  Saint Mary's uses the PSAS (Private School Aid Service) application form, which is generally available in late December or early January.  Every incoming freshman family who submits an APPLICATION WILL RECEIVE financial aid information and an application in the mail AUTOMATICALLY; you Parents of an incoming freshman applicant do not need to request an application from the Business Office; one will be automatically mailed to you or will be available online on Monday, January 5, 2009.  TRANSFER STUDENTS MUST CALL the Business Office at 510-559-6250 to request financial aid information and the application. In addition, all families with returning Saint Mary's students who currently receive financial aid will also receive an application in the mail.

Based on your timely financial aid application, PSAS provides a financial needs evaluation service to Saint Mary’s for the purpose of determining the financial need of each applicant. Upon filing the financial aid application with PSAS, families will be considered for both the Saint Mary’s Financial Aid Program as well as the FACE (Family Aid to Catholic Education) Program, a Diocesan tuition assistance program.
