Saint Mary's is a Lasallian Catholic coeducational college preparatory high school located on a 13-acre site in North Berkeley and is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the Western Catholic Education Association through 2010. Saint Mary's is notable for the deep and powerful influence of the Christian Brothers, their mission, and values, which ensure the quality and character of the school. Saint Mary's has a long, well-respected educational tradition in the Bay Area as it celebrates its 145th year of education in the community and its 80th year on the North Berkeley campus.

Saint Mary's College High School is firmly rooted in Catholic and Lasallian educational traditions. The educational program provides a strong foundational basis and challenges students to become agents of their own learning while developing important skills, strategies, and abilities that will prepare them for college and a personal commitment to lifelong learning. At Saint Mary's, students are encouraged to challenge themselves and their world by engaging in intellectual and moral inquiry in order to develop critical and independent thinking.

Saint Mary’s supports a complete wireless environment. Many of the classrooms are enhanced with the most updated technology to support the advancements in the curriculum and program. PowerSchool, an information system, will provide students and families with current academic assessment and school information. Providing the most current academic information allows students to be better agents of their own learning.

Co-Curricular
The Student Activities Program encourages leadership, school unity, and community service through various clubs and  the student government. Students are encouraged to participate in co-curricular activities to expand their education and to add to their social experience and growth.

The interscholastic athletic program is also an integral part of the Saint Mary’s experience offering 36 competitive athletic teams in 20  interscholastic athletic programs as a member of the Bay Shore Athletic League (BSAL) and North Coast Section (NCS) while consistently achieving a variety of league titles and championships, including five State Champions in the past 7 years, as well as an active school intramural program. The self-discipline and transferable skills of leadership, motivation, teamwork, time management and conflict resolution provide a unique experience for student athletes.
