Tuition Assistance for the 2018 – 2019 School Year

The gift of a Saint Mary’s education is a life changing experience. Saint Mary’s Tuition Assistance Program helps to make a Saint Mary’s education affordable to many families.  Saint Mary’s does not provide athletic or academic scholarships. All financial assistance is based on financial need.

Applications and awards are made annually and are determined by reviewing each family’s total resources, coupled with the amount of funds available. The tuition assistance program strives to provide assistance to as many families as possible. Our funding for this program is provided through the generosity of parents, alumni, students, and friends of Saint Mary’s.


Tuition Assistance Appeal 2018

The Tuition Assistance Committee wishes the school had the funds to assist all families who qualify and request tuition assistance. Unfortunately, Saint Mary’s has already overextended the budgeted amount of assistance for the incoming freshman class.

If the final decision to attend Saint Mary’s is solely based on tuition assistance and you received a larger financial award from another high school, we encourage you to accept the offer from the other school.

If you would like to appeal the financial decision, please submit your appeal by email to Calvin Deng, Director of Finance, at or fax at 510-559-6298.

INCOMING FRESHMEN: All written appeals must be received by 4pm, Monday, March 19 and a response will be emailed on Tuesday, March 20 at the end of the day. Due to the amount of time it takes to review and appeals, we will not be able to meet with individuals regarding their appeal.

Please do not phone or walk-in with your appeal. All phone and walk-in appeals will not be considered.


Tuition Assistance Deadline:  February 2, 2018


The FACTS deadline is Friday, February 2 for both continuing and prospective families. Once again, please remember to mail your FACTS form directly to the company. Do not bring any financial assistance information to Saint Mary’s unless requested by Beth Fisher or Calvin Deng. FACTS online forms submitted after the February 2 deadline will be considered late and will be reviewed after the first round of applicants.

FACTS  is conducting the tuition assistance analysis for Saint Mary’s College High School for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year.  Families applying for tuition assistance will need to complete an application and submit the necessary supporting documentation to FACTS by February 2, 2018.

♦ If you are submitting a FACTS form to more than one high school, or for more than one student at different grade or high schools, you need to file only one FACTS form. Please remember to check off the names of the schools where you want FACTS to send financial assistance results.

Families must reapply every year to be considered for Financial Assistance. If you do not reapply, you will not receive any Financial Assistance.

Once an online application has been completed, the following information will need to be sent to FACTS to complete the application process:

♦ Copies of your 2016 Federal tax return, including all supporting tax schedules, for both parents, whether or not they reside in the same household.

♦ Copies of your 2017 W-2 or 1099 forms for both parents, whether or not they reside in the same household.

♦ Copies of supporting documentation for Social Security Income, Government Assistance, Child Support, CalFresh (formally known as Food Stamps), Workers’ Compensation, and TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Family.)

All supporting documentation can be uploaded in PDF format online. Documentation can also be faxed directly to FACTS to 866-315-9264 or mailed to the address below.

Please be sure to include the applicant ID on all faxed or mailed correspondence.
