Panthers Softball Falls in Close Battle Against San Rafael
Thursday, February 27, 2026 - The Saint Mary’s Panthers faced off against San Rafael in their second home game of the season, looking to bounce back after dropping their opener to Rancho Cotate.
The game started in rough fashion for the Panthers, with San Rafael scoring 4 runs in the top of the first. But Saint Mary’s answered quickly, putting up 5 runs of their own to take their first lead of the season.
The contest remained tight, with both teams exchanging runs throughout the middle innings. By the fifth, the score was knotted at 8-8. Late in the inning, a grounding error allowed San Rafael to score twice, giving them an 8-10 lead. Despite having runners on base, the Panthers could not recover.
Saint Mary’s will look to regroup as they travel to SPSV on Monday to take on the Bruins and begin TCAL play on the road.
