Planned Giving
Planned gifts offer a meaningful way to support the Lasallian Mission at Peralta Park and create a lasting legacy at Saint Mary’s. By planning a gift today, you help ensure that future generations of students can experience the transformative power of a Saint Mary’s education.
Bequests
Including Saint Mary’s in your will or living trust is one of the simplest ways to make a lasting impact on the future of our Lasallian Mission.
Unrestricted Bequests
An unrestricted bequest supports the general needs of Saint Mary’s and the students we serve. Because these funds may be directed where they are needed most, they give school leadership the flexibility to respond to Saint Mary’s highest priorities.
Restricted Bequests
A restricted bequest allows you to designate your gift for a particular purpose, such as academics, the arts, athletics, or tuition assistance. If you are considering a restricted bequest, please contact Saint Mary’s so we can discuss your intentions and ensure that your gift can be used as you envision.
Endowed Bequests
Often used to establish scholarship funds, an endowed bequest creates a legacy that can endure for generations. Your gift becomes part of the Saint Mary’s endowment, where it is invested and distributed in accordance with policies approved by the Board of Trustees.
Memorial and Honorary Bequests
A bequest may be made in honor or memory of a family member, friend, former teacher, or another person who has made a difference in your life. Saint Mary’s would be privileged to recognize your thoughtful tribute in an appropriate way.
Gifts of Real Estate
A gift of real estate may offer significant tax advantages. Depending on the arrangement, you may also be able to retain the right to occupy the property during your lifetime or receive income from it.
Gifts of Life Insurance and Retirement-Plan Assets
A life insurance policy that is no longer needed for its original purpose may provide another way to support Saint Mary’s. You may transfer an existing policy to the school or name Saint Mary’s as a beneficiary.
Saint Mary’s may also be designated as a beneficiary of a pension or retirement plan, including an IRA, Keogh plan, or tax-sheltered annuity. Depending on your circumstances, these gifts may offer income- or estate-tax advantages.
Other Planned-Giving Options
Additional planned-giving arrangements include charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, and retained life estates. Because these options can be complex, we encourage you to consult a qualified estate-planning attorney and financial or tax advisor to determine which approach best supports your charitable and financial goals.
Let Us Know About Your Gift
If you have included Saint Mary’s in your will or estate plans, please let us know. If you prefer to remain anonymous, we will gladly honor your wishes.
Thank you for your thoughtful support of Saint Mary’s College High School and our Lasallian Mission.
