great okay so welcome again we have some slides to go through so I'm going to Cher Tisha cuz you know it's been so long since I have done this and I did not refresh my memory those of you that do this more often how do I share my screen so that you're looking at that have something on the bottom that says share but also thin down things you need to make sure you selected as the sound of rain or the window you want as if everybody could go on you that would be great that would be great I've got down below I've got Whiteboard app reaction breakout rooms share screen. okay stuber can you all see that thank goodness super take it for a few slides from here to Mary's this year it's one of our school can also be working with Miss Miller on which I am super excited about I went to Thailand when I was in college at USF and it was a baby fox. So I'm just tell you all a bit more about it as I used to keys and your families are considering what would be a good fit for you for this year to the next line the starting of itinerary or going to Thailand set reminder this immersion is specifically for juniors and seniors this is one where we want students who are older and a lil bit more mature to be on this trip so it'll take us a little over a day. I'm getting from San Francisco to Lompoc will spend just a couple days in Bangkok about a day and a half to leave the palace to see the temples and then we'll head on over to the border so that is in conscionable read which is on again Island border and that's where we'll spend the majority of our mission actually being a part of the school Community before we head back to Bangkok then fly back to San Francisco here's some info about the Bamboo School specifically it split into two campuses between Pre-K and kindergarten and then one campsite is Pre-K to sixth grade is a wide right they just here because this school Community who are stainless that means because of the location where the school is on the border and neither the time nor the government acknowledged the school I actually don't receive a great deal with civil rights and so is lasallian schools because if he serves students who are incredibly underprivileged so they're not necessarily out of the traditional age that we were associated with different braids can you see on the map there that's paid it out where the school is located on the try and meet Mark order it's very far west in Thailand so when it comes to the paperwork and documents we will have all this information about continue to talk throughout the winter as we prepare for the immersion but the most important documents for us are the updated medical information and then release forms and contracts which we sent to a registrar Miss Baldi okay shut up everyone needs have a valid passport in order to travel internationally and there's a specific form for any students who are under 18 and then we will have our own forms for st. Mary's but Miss Miller and I will take is carrying a sports for nearly the whole part of trip up then at least need to go through immigration and then also will take care of having scan copies of every one's passport student I'm charged up is making sure they have their own copy of your passport and it's always good when traveling rashes have multiple copies just in case of emergency and then also write their own documentation could have their student IDs that says they are part of the entire School now what we're actually doing for the week that we are in Thailand I truly diving into being a part of the school community and being in solidarity with the students at the faculty what was there so everyday could be a little different you might be simply playing games with younger students who might be providing English lessons to those who are older and excited to learn that we could be contributing to the farm to the Garden while working on people homes and just because there's wearing hair from the weather and their homes might not look the same as ours as far as how concrete they are so there is a lots but it is definitely the main focus is being with that one and seeing what it's like their lives are like 50 but they are there so this right here is a sample. I know it's a little small this is last year's itinerary and it talks about going from SFO to bang driving Bangkok spending some time there and then a few more specifics of days and what that looks like as far as where we're eating what we're doing where we're staying and so almost all of it is a bamboo School other than Bangkok the beginning of the end of the track and then we'll also bring student to become committed to the trip we will give all of his contact information and putting the local brother on side you were working with the address of the schools where we will be staying and then there's also some information here about education you'll have some access to phone and Wi-Fi and and then we have some more information about proper clothing for the trip we are driving to a different culture it will be different depending on where we are and what we're up to while sandals and flip flops can be worn in most places in temples and palaces we dress a little more formally and something that covers the back of our feet and then wash or throw K on campus at the school's shoulder should always be covered you know Evan let's pass this and you you keep going you're on a roll will pass this up just because it's a I mean we could we could watch it now it's about 5 minutes or you what do you think we'll just keep doing good so when it comes to communicating everything beforehand as far as documentation needs to Central registrar Miss balding and then email will be our primary means of communication try this whole process our monthly meetings getting ready for so we have Miss Miller is and my email address is right here and then once everything is confirmed in October then we'll provide our cell phone numbers to shoot some parents so that you can reach us through the process and while we are on site in Thailand in general are planets to not be getting updates every day or anything like that want to be their presents to our immersion what we're doing the community that we are with but of course not and I have access to our cell phones and our emails if something does, and just so you know about Miss Miller and I have let emergency before we feel very capable to have your students in our care for the 10 days that we are gone and as a man I have specific been to Thailand before we are going to be staying at lasallian schools both in Bangkok and when we are on the border close to me and Mom are at the Van Buren schools will be the people who are connect wireless and family watch new year with what we're up to and there is very close hospitals in case of emergency let's take a peek that's just like it just some fun pictures and when it comes to anything related to medication you want to make sure that it is easily accessible and that students always have information about it so Christian should be in carry-on luggage of any medical cards or south letters from positions with them medication showers be in its original label and their own medication this is not just in Thailand been anywhere International countries have the right to ask us anything about we have on our person or when we are going through a depression is very important that everything is documented. And our expectations don't vary too much from what we would expect at school our students City Scholars that do people who are respectful and loving and being very gracious guests to our warm hosts so everything that is in our handbook also applies this is includes any substance use it wouldn't really ruin the triggers for any reason is not sure I would have to send someone home or breaking the rules and also breaking the law whether it is state law or technology we definitely know that our students are going to have their phones with them for safety and for emergencies and comfort we expect that these are using appropriate times because our entire purpose on this trip is to be Mercy but it is that we're doing Dutchman that's it okay so those are the slides and we will make this slideshow bit late but the first year was 2019 where the first the school from the United States to go to work at the bamboo school they're very very blessed they built the chicken coop did you already tell them that tell them in and out great because somebody just asked about emerging activities like what kinds of things are they going to do for this one specifically they have usually you're going to be doing something you're going to be building something actually building a second school near relatively nearby I might be actually helping to build the second school cuz they're growing 1st June 2019 they build a chicken coop that the chickens actually started laying the eggs while they were still there so it was very exciting and then last year when they went we did we had to take a break because of covid and last year when they went they built the mushroom Hut and literally before the end of the week they had enough mushrooms to take to sell at the market so it's just that revenue-generating that sustain the program and it's such a beautiful what was really special about the Bamboo School is the kids adore our kids and the people who come and it's it is it's warm and loving kids play they play all the time and they they it's it's really a beautiful experience beautiful to it's hot it's going to be hot or sweaty you're going to be using hammers potentially you're going to be if they depending on what you have to do I think the fur Siri I think Greg Greg Kelly When in 2019 they actually learned how to sheetrock because they were building something so it all depends on what the service aspect is and I'm sure it's nowhere in the savannah will find out what what it what's the task this but it's always something very meaningful and it's just a really really special trip really good chunk of the leadership kids I can't remember now but I have to look who it is and I just came back with Full Hearts really they came back with having a profound experience this I think it's like I'd no matter what trip you're going to go on any we experience is going to be great but this is just really immersing yourself in such a wildly different culture and really just being at one with you know that the young people that we're going to be with living super simply we're just going to come back I saw a place I mean so I really look forward to it must remind us to I know that what it what is their students or parents on here but what kind of things are you are you thinking are you considering it and what would make or break the application to it or just not sure what's going on in your in your heads how many students write good about 16 brightness on the only yeah and that's because of the transportation the squee when you when they they arrive in Bangkok they stay at our little Science school so everytime we try the emergency are all going to the Science Guy and so what we do want is for the kids to understand the global network of the lasallian of the brothers of the Christian school or what's going in there and carrots so that you will go to our high school stay there overnight before going out traveling I think it's about a two-hour ride up to the bamboo school so it's all about Vans like everything it's all about Transportation so it's a limited at 16 can't take more than 16 no limitations needed you know what I talked to what is Greg's last name I talked to you and mr. Kelly and he said that there were no specific immunizations like we're going to check on the two-stage apartment site and find out exactly what's needed but he said at the time like a potentially there could be something that we need to be price of but they worded that they were no special immunization and no matter where they went to matter where they went during the course of the emergent they were hospitals nearby so they were always within distance of a really of a Welsh hospital that makes me feel happy if I was sending my son or daughter how do you determine the smelliest one specifically for you how do you do priority numbers it's all priority numbers really and we have introduced going to be doing an interview process with students who are interested in going to immersion so once we get the applications next week I'll sit down with the immersion teachers and they'll they'll call the kids and just make sure that it was going for the right reasons and and is up for the challenge these are not all three versions are very very different that were offering and so we need to make sure that everyone is up for the challenge and your heart a traveling is hard it is not a vacation ever no matter no matter where you're going it's not a vacation because you're you're eating different foods and you're staying with people you don't know so I know so I'm in it also there's another question I'm so glad you're here Miss Molly B she's the one that could really give all the information about this is their partial financial aid is the question and scholarship opportunities yes this morning the other enrichment Lee courses so on the patient so we'll have two meetings ones tomorrow ones on Thursday in during a block. 15-minute meeting with the students interested in traveling it's only then that they can get an application and then there's information on that on that application about contact the business office about requesting for financial aid so that all goes through a business office and a lot of times it's related to whatever financial assistance is provided for tuition at and that's also everything what's the website please go to the website all the information is there and if it's not let me know and I'll add it any other questions concerns we have if there's a 5 minute video it's also just on Kathie Lee this recording will be on the website right yes so if you want to show I'm going to hop off and to another meeting because other people will want to watch it okay thanks for good luck so know that you can always ask for this Mister Von if you want to sign off I'm probably right at the end we'll just just when it is there any park boards is what I'm wondering the serve on before we start the video I'm just excited to eventually work with any of your shoes that are interested in coming and as we met and we will do in a process for any students who choose to apply on a trip because the district a really meaningful maybe it's something really special to ourselves in the shoes of the people that were certain that were in solidarity with so just nothing to be nervous about we just want to get to know what it is that interest you and what your hope is as far as joining a string awesome okay let's go back to this and I hope that I can I hope tell me if sound can you hear it weather funny I think we lost and found and file an answer the space Corps oops this children are stateless people and if they don't have some join the military and fight against the government of Myanmar trafficking prostitution where is a very clever girl what are you up to and back to oh dear I've lost you there you are okay like I do think it's going to be a beautiful experience any final questions or any final words just glad to see so many of you came on and we just look forward to seeing with Plies and and talking with you I'm going on a version any fruit equates with the kids with the kids go to school with the children to see their lives or teach them you know I think I think part of it is just going to be being so being in solidarity with them I think working alongside Everett like we're going to be learning from each other so what if we're teaching them than they were teaching us something different I think we'll be working not necessarily teachings so whatever our our job is probably building something that week then yeah we'll be kind of teaching one another I'm you're welcome it's so nice so nice just to get to talk about this and you have my email do you know if any of your sons or daughters or if your students out there you just want to come in and chat with mr.
