Welcome to Saint Mary's

OUR MISSION
-- educating the whole person

Saint Mary's College High School is a Christ-centered Lasallian Catholic school where diversity and inclusion are essential to the formation of the whole person. Here, we strive to perpetuate the mission spirit of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, the patron saint of teachers, by preparing our students to pursue a life of virtue, scholarship and service.

OUR HISTORY
-- a legacy of inclusion

The Lasallian tradition was established in France over 325 years ago by Saint John Baptist de La Salle, founder of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. The Catholic teaching order is more commonly known as the De La Salle Christian Brothers. De La Salle's mission was to make education accessible to disadvantaged children. On that premise, Saint Mary's College High School was founded in San Francisco in 1863 as an affiliation of Saint Mary's College. It has been run by the De La Salle Christian Brothers since 1868.

OUR STUDENTS
-- community in diversity

Recognized as one of the most ethnically diverse high schools in the U.S., Saint Mary's student body of 600 students includes all social, economic and ethnic backgrounds. Our students are drawn from 51 private, Catholic and public schools across the East Bay, with most students residing in Alameda or Contra Costa counties.
