Panthers Earn #11 Seed, Set to Face Livermore in Opening Round

The playoff bracket has been revealed, and Saint Mary’s Girls Soccer is headed into the postseason as the #11 seed. The Panthers will travel to take on #6 seed Livermore High School in the opening round.
Saint Mary’s enters the playoffs with a 9-4-5 overall record and strong momentum, having defeated three consecutive TCAL opponents to close out the regular season. The Panthers’ offensive production has been a key strength all year, totaling 56 goals on the season.
Sophomore Sophia De Loa Ramirez has led the charge offensively, currently ranked 13th in points with 48 and 11th in goals scored with 21. Her ability to create scoring opportunities and finish in key moments has been instrumental throughout the season.
Defensively, goalkeeper Brooklyn Henderson has provided consistency in the net and is currently ranked 15th in saves per game. Her presence will be critical as the Panthers enter postseason competition.
Livermore finished its campaign 6-10-3 and has scored 21 goals on the year. The Cowboys have shown they can compete with strong programs, including a 2-1 victory over TCAL opponent El Cerrito earlier in the season.
As postseason play begins, the matchup will likely be decided on the defensive end. Limiting shots on goal, staying organized in the back line, and capitalizing on scoring opportunities will be critical factors in determining who advances.
With a win, the Panthers would move on to face the winner of San Marin and Antioch on Friday.

Wednesday, February 11, 2026 - As Saint Mary’s transitions into the North Coast Section (NCS) Girls Soccer Championship, it is important to pause and celebrate an incredible accomplishment — the Panthers are officially the 2026 TCAL-Rock Champions.
Saint Mary’s capped off a dominant league campaign with an unbeaten 8-0-4 record in the regular season. Throughout the run, the Panthers established themselves as one of the most balanced teams in the league, combining explosive offense with disciplined defensive play.
Offensively, Saint Mary’s averaged an impressive 4.5 goals per game, consistently applying pressure and capitalizing on opportunities in the attacking third. On the defensive side, the Panthers were just as sharp, allowing an average of only 0.33 goals per game — a testament to their organization, communication, and commitment to team defense.
With league play complete, the focus now shifts to the 2026 North Coast Section Girls Soccer Championships. Currently ranked 50th in the North Coast Section, Saint Mary’s is poised to make a strong push as they enter this inaugural State Championship run.
The Panthers will find out their first-round opponent when the official brackets are released on Sunday.
Congratulations to our TCAL-Rock Champions — and best of luck as the journey continues in NCS play. Go Panthers!

Tuesday, February 10, 2026 - The Saint Mary’s Girls Soccer team hosted El Cerrito in the TCAL Semifinals in what turned into a hard-fought and emotional contest at home.
The Panthers found themselves trailing early, as El Cerrito capitalized on its opportunities to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
In the second half, El Cerrito controlled possession for long stretches, but the Panthers remained composed and continued to battle. With 15 minutes remaining in regulation, Saint Mary’s broke through, capitalizing on a rebound opportunity to cut the deficit to 2-1 and shift the momentum.
The energy continued to build late in the match. After drawing a foul in a dangerous area with just two minutes remaining, sophomore Zoe McGhee delivered in a big moment. McGhee struck a beautifully curved ball into the back of the net to tie the match at 2-2 and send the game into overtime.
In overtime, the intensity remained high on both sides. Unfortunately, a tough break allowed El Cerrito to secure the game-winner, as the ball slipped through the Panthers’ goalkeeper’s hands, ending Saint Mary’s TCAL playoff run in heartbreaking fashion.
Despite the loss, the Panthers’ resilience and determination were on full display. Saint Mary’s now turns its attention to the North Coast Section Girls Soccer Championships and will await Sunday’s bracket announcement to determine its next opponent.

Turesday, December 9, 2025 - Saint Mary’s girls soccer returned to Brady Field on Tuesday afternoon for a non-league matchup against El Cerrito. What started as a dominant first half for the Panthers eventually turned into a competitive back-and-forth ending in a 2–2 draw.
Saint Mary’s set the tone early with strong possession and confident attack. The opening goal came from sophomore Gabriela Tejeda-Gonzalez, who found the net in the first half to put the Panthers on top. Not long after, junior Sophia De Loa extended the lead, giving Saint Mary’s a 2–0 advantage heading into halftime.
The second half brought a shift in momentum. El Cerrito’s Gauchos responded with pressure of their own, capitalizing on two opportunities to even the score. Despite a hard-fought finish from both sides, neither team was able to break the tie before the final whistle.
The Panthers walk away with a draw and valuable lessons as they look ahead to their next challenge. Saint Mary’s will travel to face Redwood High School this Thursday at 6:00 PM.

Tuesday, December 2, 2025 - Saint Mary’s Girls Soccer kicked off their 2024–25 season at home on Hagler Court, hosting Richmond High School. Coming off a subpar performance against Head-Royce last week, the Panthers entered the match focused and determined to set a new tone.
The first 20 minutes showed some early-season rust, with Saint Mary’s generating chances but struggling to finish. That changed in the 31st minute when sophomore Mayari Negron-Gonzales broke through with the Panthers’ first goal of the season. The score opened the floodgates.
Just two minutes later, freshman Zoe Rawks doubled the lead on an assist from junior Mae Goldman. In the 35th minute, the duo flipped roles; Goldman finished from Rawks—to put the Panthers up 3–0 heading into halftime.
Saint Mary’s kept the momentum going in the second half. In the 48th minute, sophomore Gabriela Tejeda-Gonzalez scored off another Goldman assist. Junior Sophia De Loa added a fifth in the 57th minute, assisted by senior Willa Murphy. Junior Kylie Quinn made it 6–0 in the 62nd minute, finishing a pass from junior Brianna Coyle.
De Loa capped the scoring in the 77th minute with her second goal of the match, again assisted by Murphy.
With a convincing opening win, the Panthers now turn their attention to a major early-season test: last year’s TCAL champions, the Albany Cougars.
