Kevin Flemer (’13) - Assistant Director of Athletics
Kevin Flemer (’13) enters his 4th year serving as the Assistant Athletic Director for Saint Mary’s College High School. Flemer, a graduate from Saint Mary’s in 2013, has always had a passion for sports, excelling in high school as both a football and baseball player, and then at the collegiate level where he played baseball at Oregon State University (2013-2015) and then UC Berkeley (2015-2018) where he would eventually earn his bachelor’s degree in history.
Following his time at UC Berkeley, Flemer attended the University of Minnesota (2019-2020) where he would earn his Master of Education in Sport & Exercise Science with an emphasis on Sport Psychology. After completing his master’s degree, Flemer returned to Peralta Park as the school’s Assistant Athletic Director, Freshmen Geography Teacher, and a coach for the Varsity Baseball Program.
As Assistant Athletic Director, Flemer assumes multiple roles that all ensure the success and well-being of the various athletic programs on campus. For example, ensuring that the teams have access to the athletics facilities and space they need on campus; communicating with the School Administration & Buildings & Grounds of important athletic accommodations, events, and schedules; coordinating with families regarding team events and parent participation at home games; ensuring that teams have their travel accommodations met; and keeping the school’s athletic website up to date.
In addition to his Assistant Athletic Director role, Flemer also serves as the Freshmen Geography Teacher and the Head Varsity Baseball Coach for the school.
Brian Shea grew up in Albany, CA, and graduated from Albany High School in 2009. He earned his bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from Chapman University and later obtained his master’s in Kinesiology from Humboldt State University, where he worked with the football and track & field teams for four years.
After returning home, Brian served as the athletic trainer at Holy Names University for two years, supporting their soccer, tennis, and baseball teams. He has extensive experience across various sports and recently worked in an industrial setting, providing care for warehouse workers.
A dedicated local, Brian is passionate about the East Bay and a loyal supporter of the Oakland Athletics. He is committed to educating others about their health, encouraging them to listen to their bodies, and inspiring them to connect with those around them.
Coach Leach is a Nationally Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach (NSCA) with over 20 years of experience in athletic development for athletes of all ages. He is dedicated to fostering long-term athletic growth by focusing on movement quality and efficiency, which provides a foundation for strength, endurance, power, balance, stability, and overall physical fitness.
From 2012 to 2020, Coach Leach served as the Director of Athletic Performance and Head of Strength & Conditioning at the University of San Francisco. In this role, he worked closely with Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Baseball, Volleyball, and Men’s Soccer programs. He also led a collaborative team that included experts in mental performance, nutrition, sports medicine, and strength & conditioning.
As a former college athlete who played defensive end for the UC Davis Aggies, Coach Leach understands the demands of competitive sports.
Through evidence-based and developmentally appropriate training, he helps student-athletes achieve:
