Mary Orozco

Coach Mary Orozco begins her 2nd consecutive year at Saint Mary’s College High School, and her first full season as Head Coach of the Varsity Girls Soccer Program. Coach Orozco, a native of Richmond, California, played soccer at Richmond High School while attending Middle College High School in San Pablo. Following her graduation, Mary was accepted into UC Berkeley where she is currently in her 5th year double majoring in Cognitive Science & Data Science. In addition to her academics, Orozco continues to play the sport of soccer for the UC Berkeley Club Team, and the semi-professional team known as Town FC where she competes with former NCAA Division I and World Cup players.

In addition to coaching the Panthers, Orozco has coached within the local club circuit where she contributed to the Lil’ Spurs & Tots soccer. At the age of 17, she assumed a leadership of her first ever recreational team, and then was eventually given the opportunity to her inaugural competitive soccer team for Spurs FC and would go on to coach various age groups with Spurs FC from ages U6-U17. Currently, at Eastshore Alliance FC, Orozco serves as the head coach for one of the teams.

Last year, in her 1st year coaching for the Varsity Girls Soccer team, Orozco led the Panthers to a Tri County Athletic League (TCAL) and to the 2023 NCS Quarterfinal Round. During that season, Orozco coached a few vital players the exhibited exceptional commitment and leadership. For example, Dylan Hedgspeth (’23) was a versatile athlete for the Panthers soccer program, who displayed leadership and the ability to excel both athletically and academically. In addition to coaching Hedgspeth, Orozco also coached former Panther standout, Allena Collins (’23), who won Defensive MVP for TCAL and went to play collegiately at University of Saint Mary in Kansas.

Outside of the soccer pitch, Orozco has plans to attend graduate school to discuss Data Ethics. She also enjoys spending time with her 7-year-old dog, Joey.
