welcome everyone if you had joined Mr Moseby and me about our st. Mary's Prague Krakow and Vienna trip you're in the right place for going to give our families another minute or so to fill her in and then get started are you doing Mr Moseby Jalan how are you just enjoy the nice family meal very nice I'll be eating after to be determined we went with the Trader Joe's breaded chicken always a good move Peppers it was delicious I recommended I think mine might be out so I can figure out where I live vicariously well welcome again everyone is 7 p.m. so let's go started once more if you shown out to hear about H St Mary's Elite trip featuring Prague Krakow and Vienna with Mr Moseby and need Doctor frowny you're in the right place we are going to get started by do you think ourselves a sharing a little bit about our interest in this particular trip talk a little bit about our formative travel experiences and then we will run through the evenings agenda and share some slides with you as well it started Dimensions Adventure Tri I am her sister principal for academics I'm also one of our Spanish teachers I came to United States for schooling around high school and state so I feel like a week actually is my life I've gotten to travel on several St Mary's eweek experiences I've gone students to Peru to Italy to Malta and also does local trips as well everywhere we've traveled please play I'm language of the land has been my native language so this is going to be at the first time where I do not speak the local language is one of my most formative educational travel experiences with the trip. I planned for my college choir and Glee clubs to visit my native country of Venezuela along with me this is an opportunity for me to have opposite experience and engage with Walter has a new people's and learning alongside our students so I just can't wait thank you. Try and I'm Kevin Mosby I'm an English teacher here and this is only my second year actually at Saint Mary's so I'm thrilled that only my second year I have the opportunity to go on one of these International trips I've traveled extensively through western and southern Europe but never Central in eastern so attracted to this trip because it's a part of the world I've wanted to visit for a while in my class has wearied multiple entries and what would be called the literature of the Holocaust and slime especially interested in visiting the Auschwitz Memorial Museum which is one of the stops and yeah so when I was in high school absolutely I would say that my travel experiences which were two Madrid and London were formative and were actually part of my my favorite parts of my school so I'm thrilled to share these experiences of the students as a teacher so during our meeting together this evening we are going to be offering you a trip overview covering the itinerary the weather what to wear and then speaking about some more broad-stroke considerations and then opening everything out for a brief Q&A will also refer you to where you can find information of evic including FAQs on our Saint Mary's website to learn a little bit more is that yours are basic trip overview everything that we're about to discuss basically so the dates of travel are March 3rd to the 11th twenty free one of the longer you with trips we are visiting Prague Krakow and Vienna so that's Czech Republic Poland and Austria and the estimated cost which depends on the number of students that we end up taking is between 4 1042 First Student okay and this is where we are actually going in the world this is a map of of Europe Poland Czech Republic and sorry I'm in Austria so there you go and then the specific dates of travel so on Friday the 3rd we would go from SFO to Prague and then Prague from the bean overnight flight so we would be in Prague from Saturday the 4th to Tuesday the 7th at which point we take a bus to Krakow and we'd be there from the 7th to the 9th and then being the 9th to the 11th and on the 11th to reply back to SS. So once in Prague we will visit the Old Town Square and also the clock we will visit on Castle the Carolinian at Charles University st. Louis Cathedral the old Royal Palace and also St George the silica we also Envision having an afternoon guided tour of Prague Castle we will have dinner and spend that first night in Prague okay so this is not technically Prague but it is coonawarra to town about thirty miles side of Prague on the relatively small town but it was a frequent destination one of the reasons is because of the first thing I've listen to the sedlec Bone Church which is essentially a burial sites in the basement of another church that in the 1500s was made into a chapel that uses skeletons and Bones as decorations and furniture so it's a it's something I'm personally very excited to see you sing the Kathy role of Saint Barbara famous gothic church and then we'll be doing a folklore Dinner Show which is music dancing storytelling and hopefully some good food Krakow we will visit the Meat Market Square st. Mary's Basilica castle and Cathedral the Royal tombs the gothic cloth Hall and then we will close with a visit as Mr Moseby reference earlier to the Auschwitz and birkenau Museum and Memorial this is going to be a really weighty day for all of us and a very personal day those of us who are of Jewish descent it's an incredible opportunity that also will be deeply impactful parents I want to encourage you to talk with her till about whether they are ready to engage authentically with this part of world history discuss the events of the Holocaust on site and serve as allies to those members of our group we're going to need a lot of support around this visit okay Indiana so we going to the old quarter starting there and then to st. Stephen's Cathedral and then to the Viet the famous very famous opera house animal called the ringstrasse of Emperor Franz Joseph which is essentially means Ring Road it's kind of center of town surrounded surrounded by a lot of architecture from variety of architectural periods classical run that's broke and one of those probably think the most famous Baroque building there is the it is a Saint Charles Church which will be another highlight and that's the that's the one in the picture there okay so what about the weather I'll let you read this but hovering is Fahrenheit by the way hovering around average high of 50 average 35 inch what's a chance of rain for Fairly likely they may be chance of rain possible but but fairly rare possibility of snowfall so just keep that in mind and these reports averages so we don't know for sure that this will be the temperature we will have plenty of meetings with our with what becomes our group before we actually go so they'll be plenty of their warning about what to wear and what to bring a reminder that the purpose of enrichment week is to connect with other peoples and cultures explore history meet new students and Bill relationship this is not a time for friend groups and romantic Partners to travel together is also not a vacation it is an educational trip with authentic learning experiences plan to further Rich the experiences that students are already having during our more traditional St Mary's curriculum our visits to holy places for example are going to be complimenting what do beans have been studying to our religion courses just as Mr Moseby share there going to be a lot of times as well to our English curriculum Envision as well that there will be tying to Runnings in Visual and Performing Arts in languages and of course to our summer reading aren't you our history through another's eyes curriculum to ensure that a broom gets the most from this opportunity mr. Mosby's and my primary responsibility is to ensure everyone's safety and will be will send you home immediately if we have concerns that your behaviors are compromising your safety or the safety of others some additional notes about Health and Wellness goodbye. I want to make sure to mention if your child has anxiety depression eating issues if your child sleep walks if your child struggles with addiction please talk with us and consider not sending them on a school trip over really just not equipped to deal with those issues while traveling in another country we need your help to make sure that we set our children up for really successful Experience run and just a reminder about I'm honoring diversity and living out our lasallian core principles and Broad and he's our travel trip so we are but we are still in bassadors of St Mary's we expect that your actions students actions will honor the diversity and people of these places of these calls the movie encounter so appreciation and open minds terms of food for redress speaking perhaps speaking the language whenever possible and it's important we were slapped those lasallian core principles I respect inclusion throughout the length of the trip and I know about travel permission so just make sure that you have students that have current passports or renew your passport immediately if they happen to expire soon what we will monitor travel conditions as we get closer to our departure dates so please expect communication about any changes from Miss molinelli and regulations in the countries were visiting do require that all travelers be vaccinated against covid-19 so be mindful of that fact and please bring your actual vaccination card is not a picture on your phone just to ensure that there are no trouble issues so there is financial support for students to participate in our emerging opportunities but not our travel trips and this is a travel trip so the cost for this trip is currently projected between like I said 4040 $200 inclusive of most cost students just be mindful of that sometimes you will also be expected to pay for things like lunch and things where perhaps we will disperse how to apply soap students if you are interested in applying you must have had a meeting with our expensive on this monali about expectations for our enrichment we travel trips and students and parents you must both signs compare and contract and then you will be able to receive an application that applications come directly from Miss monelli after you meet with her you will not receive your application for this trip from Mr Moseby or from me we may use priority numbers to determine who can participate in our trip pending the number of applications that we receive please note that the deadline to apply for Oliver St Marys enrichment week travel trips this year September 27th you will hear back about your placement a few weeks later and then you will have until October 31st to decide whether or not you are going to travel when I underscore that Mr Moseby and I really look forward to traveling with students who will take advantage of the full educational opportunity that our Prague Krakow and Vienna itinerary represents note that we are actively exploring incorporating fun Hands-On surprises for students on site DVD and we would love to have you on our enrichment week trip so thank you again very much that's dog friendly just said we're very excited about the strep personally and we'd love to have you on it students so this time we'd like to open it up for any questions that you may have hopefully we have the answers yes the questions I went ahead just as everyone is ready able to formulate a question the best way to pose those fleas is to type them into chat what you're doing right now is our seniors College High School website you can click either on Student Life on academics or there's a direct link to enrichment week as well and that's where you are going to be able to find comprehensive policies and procedures application information and itineraries for every single one of the trips that require early registration the videos from our enrichment Week information sessions are also going to be posted there you also have all of this information via links in the communication. Was shared by Miss Donnelly I'm going to take a peek into chat and a questionnaire looks like how are you going from Krakow to Venice with all its All Buses once we're there so the only flight probably to and from the United States great I will take the second question on what contingency planning is and play given that there is an active War Zone in a nation just to the east so as we mentioned we were talking about a broad Strokes consideration we are going to be continually monitoring the situation in regions are found our travel destinations and we will modify as appropriate in past years it has been necessary for us to change a trip destination just a couple of weeks before scheduled departure. as I shared with you as well for his most being me our primary task is to ensure the safety and well-being of our groups are we going to do everything we can to make sure that everyone is well taken care of a Godless of what that might mean for perhaps an unanticipated change to our itinerary food lodging and transportation throughout the trip you were going to be eating local Cuisine we will be staying in nice tourist class Hotel has he mentioned that we would be buzzing around will the kids need a booster to travel yes all of our traveler should have current covid-19 vaccine and that includes any appropriate boosters I see final question are miserable because you want to tackle that it seems like what you mentioned earlier will I believe every day be covered lunches we're again there might be some turn on your own time those might be they might be on they might be on the ground for paying for those lunches but besides that dinners will be out. the families I would factor between 10 and 20 euros for lunch and then talk together about your budget about what your student might be contributing through an after-school call job or savings that they've amassed from Summer work as well think about what an appropriate budget is going to be to include those lunch expenditures but also some souvenirs or a dress that dude might be interested in acquiring a in the course of our travel I haven't seen any more questions pop up in the chat I want to thank everyone still very much for spending some of your Tuesday evening with us it's been a real pleasure and happy and Richfield week everyone thanks again for coming thank you very much thank you thank you thank you
