Panthers Conclude Successful Year at TCAL Championships

 

April 27, 2023—In their final meet of the season, the Swimming & Diving team traveled to Vallejo, California, to compete in the Tri-County Athletic League (TCAL) Championship Meet where the boys on the team who competed in the JV events took first place with an overall score of 324.

 

In fact, the Panthers combined teams that competed in the championship event (boys and girls) earned a total of 10 first place finishes, one second place finish, and four third place finishes. It was nothing short of a very successful day for the Panthers. Congratulations to the Swim & Dive program on very successful first year after being shut down for three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and looking forward to seeing what the 2024 spring season has in store.

 

Panthers Celebrate Senior Day at Hercules in Regular Season Finale

 

April 20, 2023—On a beautiful afternoon at the Hercules Swim Center, the Panthers took on the Hercules High Titans and the St. Patrick-St. Vincent Bruins in a joint meet to close the regular season. Prior to the event, the Panthers honored 9 of their Seniors for their hard work and dedication to the Swim & Dive program that was reintroduced this season following the COVID-19 Pandemic—Nathaniel Catalano, Eleanor Deverell, Jonathan Iglesias, Mary Isola, Tatianna Moya, Emilia Podesta, Donovan Salvador, Daphne Siemons, and Paul Wilson.

 

Following the pre-meet festivities, the Panthers also had a lot more to celebrate for as a handful of the team members performed extremely well in their respective events. Senior, Paul Wilson, added to his Senior Day recognition with a strong performance in his first ever 100yd butterfly and finishing first among the three Saint Mary’s swimmers that participated with a time of 1:22.21. Senior, Donovan Salvador, also joined in on the action as he would post a 29.77 second time in the 50yd freestyle event. Lastly, Senior, Nathaniel Catalano, would perform very well in the 100m breaststroke event as he would post a time of 1:40.09.

 

The Panthers will now turn their attention to preparing for next week’s TCAL Championships Meet which is scheduled for Thursday, April 27th, at 9:00am at the John Cunningham Aquatic Complex in Vallejo. Good luck Panthers!

 

Panthers Win Second Straight Meet Over John Swett

 

March 20, 2023—In their second meet of the season, the Panthers traveled to Crockett, California, to take on the John Swett High Warriors. Both the boys and the girls’ teams found themselves in closer matchups in comparison to their opening meet of the year against Vallejo. Nonetheless, both squads would prevail as the boys would win by the score of 87-39 and the girls would win by the score of 64-60, giving the Panthers the overall victory by the score of 151-99. In fact, the highlight of the day was that the Panthers were victorious in all ten matches that they participated in.

 

The Panthers will look to extend their early winning streak as they will travel to Pinole, California, to take on the Pinole Valley High Spartans, the De Anza High Dons, and the Richmond High Oilers. The meet is scheduled for Tuesday, March 28th, at 4:30PM.

 

Panthers Kickoff Swim & Dive Season with Convincing Win In Vallejo

 

March 15, 2023—In their first swimming & diving meet in over three years, the Panthers Swimming & Diving Team traveled to Vallejo, CA, to take on the Vallejo High Redhawks. The Panther boys and girls won in convincing fashion as the boys would defeat the Redhawks by the score of 93-0, and the girls would win by the score of 98-13 (191-13 total).

 

The Panthers were led by Senior, Eleanor Deverell, as she finished in first place in all four events that she competed in. Along with Deverell’s fantastic performance, the Panthers also got a great effort from Freshman, Carrie Baskin, who competed in a total of five events and earned a total of 30 points for the team.

 

The Panthers will look to build off of their impressive performance in Vallejo as they will travel to take on the John Swett High Warriors in Crockett, CA, on Monday, March 20th. The meet is scheduled to start at 3:30PM.
