all right well good evening everyone my name is Oscar D Nunley or Miss Nunley to the students and I am very excited about enrichment week this year I'm going back to see Asia and taking a group of our students to Vietnam and Cambodia so hopefully you're here to hear more information about that trip I'm going to go ahead and share my screen all right so like I mentioned we are traveling this year to Vietnam I'm and Cambodia we are going to be experiencing culture and food and history and toggling between kind of the lower end of Vietnam and Cambodia which is very exciting Tomatoes a lot of culture and history there and sorry I am navigating this Natalie I have somebody else to do this for me but are we going to get more people so very excited hopefully you have taken some time to look at the itinerary and look at the flyer and get some basic information but here is again where we're headed and I'm going to very quickly share something else that we can kind of go over some highlights so beautiful like I said culture and history that we will get to experience on our trip pictures of our sites that we will be singing I'm very excited that we not only will be experiencing some of the Boating opportunities but there's also time for us to be biking and Hiking so this will be a very active trip now while I'm saying that I also want to let people know typically there's questions about weather so the weather during that time is warm and humid with a Chance of tropical rain so we will definitely want to make sure that all of our Travelers are used to warmer weather are prepared and are wearing cooler and lighter clothes while they are traveling okay let me stop this for one second so we can go to our itinerary all right so this is one of the larger longer trips we will be leaving on Friday March 1st so right after students have finished finals they will need to be at the airport and ready to go and we do come back on Sunday the 10th of March it is a long haul for us to get over there it's going to be about 14 hours to Taipei we do not have a direct flight so 14 hours to Taipei and then another four hours to Saigon and on the way back we go through Bangkok so it's a gay pretty much the same length as far as the flight what I would suggest now is if your child is interested and does not have their passport or their passport will expire within 6 months travel dates that you work now to go ahead and get a passport even if you're looking at another trip we work with a travel agency TSA and we always try to make sure that we have up-to-date passport information early that process is taking longer since covid so if you are looking to renew or get a passport for the first time I would suggest that you start doing that now and again if you have a passport that is valid now but will be expiring within 6 months of travel you are required to renew it early so just to put that on everyone's radar you'll want to get that going now another question that tends to come up is what kind of shots or anything you might need in order to prepare for this trip so as of today CDC is suggesting that everyone be up to date on their diphtheria shots which is Tdap and informations on the CDC website but I will also once we know what students will be traveling with me I'll send that information out so that you can work with your doctors to ensure that you are up-to-date that is a normal T. Bizzle normal vaccination that we all experience that you typically get a booster for every year I believe it's 5 or 10 years don't quote me on that but they are asking that people traveling to Vietnam have had that within the last five Sears at this point so that's another thing to kind of put on your radar to work with your healthcare provider on and making sure that you get that done in good timing for this trip okay so as you can see just from our itinerary like I said there's a lot of opportunity for cultural experiences for historical experiences we are going to be on we're going to be on such we're going to be on boat we'll be traveling with experience travel agents and have tour guides that will be helping us through things when it comes to activities there are set days were things are very structured and some loose. time for our students and your children to be able to kind of explore the city now we always make sure that we're doing that in a safe manner that we give them a certain amount of time to do that or if it's not an opportune time that we do do you know it just those things so the last group I was on had some questions around travel and if there is free time there is free time it just depends on where we are and what's going on in that area I'm looking for questions right now and I've got a question on what type of visas do we need to get so the Visas are typically handled by our travel agency and at this point we don't have anything outside of your passport that you need to get that information we will have and go over once we have the roster of everyone traveling in terms of safety it's another question in terms of safety will students be able to explore city of free time, just like I said we will never let anyone explore alone you will always go in small groups we will have designated areas and which people can go and travel and explore we love to give you time to do that again and reason and depending on where we are for the parameters one more question just came in what airline will we fly we are on China air and unfortunately it is not direct so it will be a long haul on play there and on the way back let's see I also had a question come up about currency so the Vietnam uses the Vietnamese dong the dollar to the dong very much so in our favor so when it comes to Bringing cash for things our money goes a very long way most of the meals are included in the price of the really packing extra cash for souvenirs is all that the children will need okay so good like I said I'm very excited about the trip really what you've seen on the flyer and what you see on the website with the full itinerary those are the basic things that you need to know at this point I'm going to go and stop the recording and then I will open it up for more generic question so give me one second
