Panthers Rugby Participates in First Matches in School History
October 3rd, 2022—On a Saturday afternoon at the Carondelet Athletics Complex in Walnut Creek, California, the Panthers Girls Rugby program participated in their first matches ever in Saint Mary’s history. The Panthers competed in three matches where they lost, drew, and won.
In the first match of the day, the Panthers were defeated by the Bishop O’Dowd High Dragons by the score of 30-0. In the second match, the Panthers competed against the Carondelet High Cougars where both teams found themselves in a close match that ended up in a draw with the final score being 10-10.
The third and final match of the day featured the Panthers first win in program history where they defeated the Berkeley High Yellowjackets by the score of 10-5.
The Panthers will look to build off of their strong showing as they will compete in another three-match set at the Carondelet Athletic Complex this coming Saturday, October 8th, starting at 9:00AM.
