are going to do it all right so hello everybody Welcome party I am taking a trip to Ghana 2023 this is very exciting this is the first trip since go so here's some details on the pricing of this is also fluctuating 3400 plus 3600 is is kind of the best estimate that I can give at the moment and that includes all flights lodging Transportation everything so once you pay that amount whatever it will definitely is probably closer to 3400 everything included so the only thing that your person might want to bring is just some money too whatever the things that they might be interested in but 34 to 3600 is kind of what we're looking at this particular Robert Stack excuse me he runs the foundation called soccer which is a kind of Exchange program for Bay Area soccer players across the Ghana to play so he is extended across to us to kind of help encourage cultural exchange so we actually with him he has a hotel there and so on the entirety of the trip will be will be there at his hotel so everybody will be staying single Tatian and it's going to be a little bit so give me two chaperones I'm obviously one of them I do not know who go shopping this might be that is still to be decided a lot of things are still just being sorted out right now and application for this deadline is the application deadline for this particular trip is the 27th so there's no deposit required so if you just want to cry and and and see if you get in so we'll talk about temperatures I see you I'm trying to build that into us what I'm talking about here some considerations obviously has a lot of travel it's usually two flights one to Europe and you're up to two across which is the capital of each of those has probably run 68 hours depending with airport time and stuff like that we're looking at a long day of traveling and once we get into the country we are going to be taking a bus to the city where we're going to be so it's a long first day and it's a long but last day so just give me because it is a consideration for for this type of trip make sure your passwords are valid 6 months past exit date which means what effect will you have to do is at your password has to be valid at least 6 months after you coming back to America so in the past we've had some people got to renew their passports so it's very important to check it out see if that's something that is obviously something that applies to you we do not want to have people on the day of realize that they can't go so check the passports so because we're in close to the equator it's a tropical area we do have to take a yellow fever vaccine on those can be pills or shots on I think typhoid can be either and I think yellow fever is also a shot or pills I'm you do have to show documentation in order to get to the country or at least I should say to apply for the visa to get into the country and while you're there you have to take daily malaria pills just because it's like some very tropical environment it is hot and humid usually it's around 8685 ish everyday it's likely to rain everyday what is likely to the thunderstorm every so often but it is a no is a equatorial Place basically use anything that I can support you on communication with that is super super crucial yes you can renew passport even if it's not expired but I don't think it's I don't think you're able to unless it's really close to a renewal a duchess of the night you have to check okay so where we going so this is Ghana over here to my last and I cry is the capital of little bit closer here on the Right image that you have Toca Rowdy which is west of Cape Coast so we are talking about an interesting interesting is going to be actually a sister city to Oakland Airport cities as a second attack karate is a port city and our sister city is open I did not know that until I started taking so long African continent and Ghana is fairly large so it seems like it might not be that far but it got fixed it six hour drive or six hours between Accra and takoradi I don't think it can travel the group it just depends I what's the last day in Camp with the Dynamics of the trip look like this is karate from the view of our hotel this is not the downtown Metro Center but you we are in Africa so this is actually what it looks like every day when you wake up this is a trick one of the destinations is popular Beach this is I'm taking you effectively throughout the whole trip so this is the first day you wake up you're at karate next day I will go to the beach because we just had a long day of travel so this is the beach that we can go to a very beautiful beach as you can see very warm Waters everything's beautiful and really the focal point is the call Castle so this is the effects of sleepasil a Dungeons that the Dutch and Portuguese and British used for slavery so when we go see this place it's a very challenging but very experience for for us because of course we have a very deep history with sights like these it's a very heavy part of the trip is the part that like I said it's the focal point it's one of the reasons why we go here but it is very intense and emotional day so that's that's another thing to be mindful of because this is the trip we are going to Africa like this is not America this is something that is very very different for a lot of people because like I said there's a lot of and things like that tied into these places and and it's not necessarily that easy but it is very very rewarding and is very very very important so this is just a view of the castle do the coastline after this we have this is from Ghana independence day going to be there on March 6th which is the Independence Day of you are history Buffs Ghana was the first independent nation in the continent of Africa and so we're going to be there during the end play celebrations in this is one 2019 this is a really big day obviously because it's it's a super important moment in African history Florida tourism this is the Rope bridge at kakum National Forest this is perhaps my least favorite day I'm very for the pipes so this is something that I've had to struggle through every time but as you can see it's beautiful it's absolutely gorgeous and Andy's rope Bridges there are a really fun way to explore this part of the land that's an afternoon we drive out there and spend the day there have some lunch there and then make her way back so the other most important part of this trip is at opportunity that we work with an orphanage so this is a GM orphanage I've been going there since the beginning of this trip every year was every time we have this trip we spend time here and make donations here and end this is part that experience of the trip as well because this is something that is not necessarily again something we can experience often but it's a very very important time because it's just super fun in 2020 this was unfortunately at the covid year so that's what we returned home to from this experience we have to go back to lockdown so I'm very lucky that we had this opportunity but it's something that we can do I'm in that we will do when when we go this year the travel dates are going to be during that in recent weeks of a Friday I believe tomorrow holidays are going to be at the beginning of March to see many people who've been on many tsums formation for any itineraries and the Flyers that Rob has provided are on the website so you can if you saw my last email today this morning just click on Saint Mary's website will take you right to the enrichment week tab you can look at all of everything about application dates itinerary prices are on their everything is on there so please read the emails as well as to look at the website for details on there as well so I'm seeing that there is with the with the with the big issue or the big guy, Katie factor is obviously getting the vaccinations and the malaria pills because those are you have to go to travel doctors and you have to schedule limit far enough in advance to start taking them and then by the time the trip begins it's going to be something that you already have to be in it the options are up to you so there's no kind of required a doctor that we asked me to go see there's no required type of medication that were asked me to take but it does have to be obviously legitimate that is a requirement so it's up to you to see how you want to have navigate to that but it is something that is it is required so is there any other questions I can kind of stick around but I see some things coming their yes gluten-free can be accommodated I'm not sure how the selection process is classic already on that's an alchemy that has four times now there is we try we blend the trips as much as we can Ghana is it is not is is definitely going to be a challenging trip the maturity and the ability to be very responsible and able to adapt to the environment that they're in is going to be really important so we'll make sure that we have the right group of kids who can handle that kind of responsibility priority numbers are only used if we have more than what we can accommodate I think Rob if we go back to your first trip with you had probably 30 kids right about 14 to 18 so does very but we will definitely make sure we have teachers on those trips it's about a 1 and ratio plus you stay in a very secure place when you are in Ghana which is makes us all very happy so it's a very safe safe trip but but this is where cultural norms are very very important I know when the group is settled there will be more information about that but you have to trust that your children are able to take Direction and and fit in a culturally as far as food Tire everything is really really important and prior to the actual trip you're going to have several kind of like more information that will be coming out because Robert is someone that I've known for 15 16 years on his lips around here so he can also be an option for any information that you might have a relationship so we're going to have some Ghana days coming up on so if you are a part of this trip all this stuff will obviously be communicated with you and then set expectations and everything like that through those but right now it's just information see if you like it was amazing so depending on the routing last time with the Amsterdam that was. 8 hours and then six hours so it's a it's a lot of traffic last time we flew was on I think it was KLM is KLM and then it was eating United I said if you have any other questions
